Infiltration bid foiled in Poonch, 3 terrorists nabbed with 10-kg IED, weapons, narcotics, jawan injured

Jammu, May 31 (UNI) The security forces have foiled an infiltration bid and arrested three terrorists with 10-kg Improvised Explosive Device, narcotics and other war like stores near the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Defence spokesman here on Wednesday said that in a joint operation by Indian Army along with police, likely 3 to 4 terrorists were intercepted on Line of Control in Poonch sector while attempting to cross the fence on the night of May 30-31 taking the advantage of bad weather and heavy rains.

"After tracking the movement at about 0130 hours, a well sited Indian Army ambush on challenging them was fired upon and in the retaliatory firefight some terrorists have been hit," said the spokesman.

He added that the area is cordoned and search operation is in progress, adding that the blood trails have been found. "Three terrorists have been apprehended with some weapons, war like stores including one IED and narcotics," the spokesman added.

He said that one Indian Army soldier was injured in the ensuing firing and has been evacuated while search operations are in progress.

Meanwhile, as per sources, the recovery also included one Ak 56 rifle, magazine, 10 Ak bullets, two pistols, four pistol magazines, 70 pistol bullets, six hand grenades and heroin (worth crores)
